Stages in a child's Journeys

Updated over a week ago

In each child's individual journey, the Stages are organised in a table format. This allows you to document, assess, and reflect on their progress at each stage against the customised Stages for your centre.

For each stage, you can add learning documents, and LoveHeart will automatically review them to assess whether they meet the context of the stage. Let’s go over how this process works!

Adding Learning Documents to a Stage

  1. Select the Stage: Each stage (e.g., Observe, Plan, Implement) is displayed as a heading in the table.

  1. Click ‘Create’: Under the relevant stage, click the ‘Create’ button

  1. Choose the Document Type: You can select the type of learning document you’d like to add, such as an observation, learning story, or reflection.

  1. Complete the Document: Fill out the details of the child’s learning and save it. You can choose to write, voice record or upload an image. If you need any help, Coach Sue is always available.

Stage Statuses Explained

As you add learning documents, each stage will show one of the following statuses, helping you track progress:

  • Not Assessed: LoveHeart hasn't yet reviewed the stage. Click the Refresh button to prompt LoveHeart to assess the documents and update the status.

  • Not Started: No relevant learning documents have been added for this stage. To get started, click Create and add documents that fit the stage's purpose.

  • In Progress: Some learning documents have been created, but they don’t fully meet the context of the stage yet. LoveHeart will:

    • Explain the reason: You’ll see a note explaining why this stage hasn’t been marked as complete.

    • Offer suggestions: LoveHeart will guide you on how to fulfil the stage requirements, whether it's adding more detail, reflections, or specific observations.

  • Complete: The learning documents added meet the stage's requirements, and the stage has been marked as complete. LoveHeart will notify you of this, confirming that the stage has been successfully completed.

Reviewing Progress and Completing Stages

You can regularly review each child’s progress by checking the table. It will display the status of the Journey, giving you a clear view of where additional learning documentation is needed or where stages have been completed.

LoveHeart helps ensure that each part of the planning cycle is addressed, providing feedback and suggestions along the way.

Switching Views: Table and List Format

You can switch between different views to better manage the stages in a child’s journey:

  • Table View: Provides an overview of each stage with headers and corresponding learning documents underneath.

  • List View: Offers a more simplified, linear view of each stage and its status. This view can be helpful if you prefer to see all stages and documents in a list format.
