Learning Story

Updated over a week ago

To get started with LoveHeart, begin by writing your first learning story. It will only take a few seconds with LoveHeart's AI working as your aide!

There are two ways to create a Learning Story in LoveHeart:

1. Within a Child’s Learning Journey

You can add a Learning Story under one of the stages in the child’s Learning Journey. This is ideal when you want to document the child’s progress as part of their cycle of planning. It allows you to reflect on and track the child's learning in alignment with your centre’s planning process.

2. In Journals

If you’re creating a one-off Learning Story that doesn’t need to be part of a specific planning cycle, you can do so directly in the Journals section. This is perfect for standalone learning stories that capture key moments or unique experiences.

Creating a Learning Story Within a Child’s Learning Journey

This method is ideal for adding a learning story as part of a child’s ongoing learning journey and planning cycle.

Follow the steps in this article to create a Journey. https://help.loveheart.ai/en/articles/8077659-how-do-i-create-a-learning-journey

Let's get started writing a learning Story:

1. Select a Stage: Once the Journey is created, click on the relevant stage where you’d like to add a Learning story.

2. Click ‘+ Create’: Within the stage, click + Create

3. Click on the pencil to choose Learning story from the options.

4. If you need to provide more detail. LoveHeart will prompt you to let you know more detail is required. LoveHeart will give you the option to "Keep writing" or "Get help from Coach Sue"

5. You can decide to keep writing until sentinel is satisfied or you can "Get help from Coach Sue". Coach Sue is there to help develop your critical thinking and learning that has occurred for the child. Remember if the background is yellow, the conversation with Coach Sue is private.

6. Coach Sue will ask you various questions for you to go ahead and type into the message box and click the "arrow" button to send off.

7. Once sentinel is satisfied through your Coaching Session two buttons will pop up to say "Magically create story" (This is where it will automatically create your story).

or "Insert Transcript" go ahead and click on it to attach that whole conversation into your "Jottings/notes" section.

We suggest that you only click on these buttons when you are satisfied that you have given enough information to create a rich and meaningful learning story.

8. The insert transcript button will take you back to your Learning Story. You have an option to select different writing tones. You can choose however many you would like or you do not have to use this feature. Writing tones creates the narrative of you learning observation.

9. You can also choose the length of your observation from "very short" to "long".

10. It's important to point out that LoveHeart will not generate a story if the "Red Shield" is located on the "Blue Arrow" Please ensure you have enough content and in order for this shield to be removed.

11. Final Step! Once you are satisfied with your observation you can now go ahead and click the "Blue Arrow" to start creating an observation for the child. This will add the Learning Story to that Stage of the child's learning Journey.

Quick tip: If you want to save even more time you can go ahead and use our Voice Memo feature by clicking on the "Microphone" button. This will allow you to record your own voice of the learning that has happened for the child instead of typing! You can record this Voice memo in any language that you feel comfortable in and it will translate your voice memo into English.

2. Creating a One-Off Letter or Diary in Journals

If you’re creating a standalone Learning Story that isn’t tied to a Learning Journey, use the Journals section.

  1. Go to the Journals Section: From the LoveHeart dashboard, navigate to the Journals section.

  2. Click ‘Create’: Click the ‘Create’ button and select Learning Story.

  3. Write Your Entry: Fill in your learning story. You can choose to writing, voice record or add photos. Coach Sue is always there if you need any support.

  4. Send: Once complete, send your Learning Story to LoveHeart to magically create. It will now be stored in the Journals section for easy access.

Don't forget to take a moment to review and tweak the Learning Story to make sure it’s just how you want it before sharing with families. You’ve got full control over how it’s presented!

Happy creating!
